Chicken Shawarma Wrap
Our Chicken Shawarma Wrap is a great way to add some protein to your day, whether you’re looking for a quick lunch or a satisfying dinner. This recipe is filled with the flavors of the Middle East and is perfect for a busy weeknight.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound chicken breast or thigh
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon shawarma spice blend (store-bought or homemade, we recommend ordering from Amazon)
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 dash cayenne
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, mix together the shawarma spice blend, salt, and black pepper. Rub the spice mix all over the chicken.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil on medium-high. Once hot, add the chicken and onion. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is browned and cooked through, about 6-7 minutes.
- While the chicken is cooking, whisk together the lemon juice, garlic powder, cayenne, honey, and paprika in a bowl. Once the chicken is done, add the sauce to the skillet and stir to coat the chicken and onions.
- To assemble the wrap, warm the pita in the microwave or in a dry skillet over medium-high heat for a few seconds. Place a few spoonfuls of the chicken mixture on the pita and top with your choice of toppings, such as tzatziki, hummus, or pickled vegetables. Roll up the pita and serve.
